The renowned journalist and author has passed away at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and reporting excellence.
CBS News veteran and prominent advocate for individuals with chronic illnesses, Richard Cohen, passed away on December 24, 2024. Aside from his work as an author and journalist, Cohen was also widely recognized as the spouse of former “Today” show anchor, Meredith Vieira.

Cohen had battled multiple sclerosis for over five decades and successfully overcame two cancer diagnoses. His openness and advocacy helped bring awareness to the challenges faced by those with chronic conditions.
Additionally, he authored several books about his health experiences, sharing stories to help others. “I think too many people stay closed and don’t tell the truth,” he said during a 2014 appearance on “Today.”

Cohen and Vieira shared 38 years of marriage and three children: sons Ben and Gabe, and daughter Lily. The author shared in a past interview that he revealed his condition early in his relationship with the former “Today” anchor.
