Ruby gradually gained the self-assurance to tell her parents and, eventually, the world who she really was in 2020. Her parents have since “watched in wonder and pride as [their] son became [their] daughter Ruby,” but they acknowledge that it took longer following a negative therapy experience.

In addition to being married since 1984, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest, an actor, writer, and director, have a daughter named Annie who is nine years older than Ruby. Ruby sat down with her parents at their Los Angeles house in 2020 to tell them the truth, but initially she was unable to do so.

Just the thought of telling them anything they didn’t know about me was frightening. Although it was frightening, I wasn’t concerned. “They had always been so accepting of me,” Ruby remarked in an interview.
Ruby texted her mother instead of alerting her parents before leaving. “I gave her a call right away. It goes without saying that some tears were shed,” Jamie Lee said.
Since then, Ruby has grown to the point where she feels at ease discussing her experience in public and hopes to be of assistance to others.
I have made a concerted effort to avoid the spotlight for many years. If it benefits others, I’m glad to be more visible,” she remarked.

It’s been a novel experience for Jamie Lee. It’s utilizing a native tongue. It’s picking up new words and jargon,” she stated. “I’m fresh to it. I don’t pretend to be very knowledgeable about it. And I’m going to make mistakes and ruin it. I want to try to steer clear of major blunders.

Since Ruby came out, the actress has also gained a great deal of knowledge. “You speak a little more slowly. You start paying a little more attention to what you say. The way you say it. You still make mistakes; I made two mistakes today. We’re only human,” Jamie Lee continued.

Like Ruby, though, Jamie Lee believes that others may benefit from hearing about their family’s experience. “It’s worth it if someone reads this, sees a photo of Ruby and me, and says, ‘I feel free to say this is who I am,’” the actress stated.

Ruby was always aware of her uniqueness, and although she would claim to be masculine, she knew in her heart that this was not the case.
“A trans buddy of mine asked me what gender I was when I was around sixteen. “Well, I’m male,” I informed them. Then I would think about it. She explained, “I knew I was—maybe not Ruby per se, but I knew I was different.”

Jamie Lee’s youngest daughter said that she is still the same person she has always been; the only thing that has changed is how she looks.
“I haven’t altered the fact that people will still remember me for who I was. For the first time, they can see who I’ve always been on the inside, but now I can finally display it on the outside,” Ruby said.

Ruby appreciates the assistance and support she has received from her loved ones, but she also understands the significance of it on a broader level.
It is everyone’s duty to assist others. It’s not just a problem in our home, in my opinion. She came to the conclusion that it should be a human thing.
Ruby said this after, as we previously reported, her mother defended her when homophobic threats against her circulated.To her surprise, Jamie Lee Curtis disclosed in an interview in October 2022 that threats had been made against her daughter.
According to Curtis, some have threatened to “annihilate” Ruby and others like her simply because they are transgender. She went on to say that it is “terrifying” because she could not comprehend “the level of hatred” in society.
While acknowledging that she is “scared” about her child’s future, the “My Girl” star said she has a “voice” that she plans to utilize and urged others to follow suit if they wish to see change.
Jamie Lee is a loving and caring mother, even though she and her husband adopted both of their children. She was the first to hold Ruby and cut her umbilical chord shortly after her birth in March 1996.
Although she is unable to recall how they became Ruby’s parents, it was due to a number of “circumstances occurring, all of which were celestial.”
